The Provider Services Unit (PSU) is the part of NHS Blackburn with Darwen that provides safe, high quality and patient centred primary healthcare services to the diverse communities of Blackburn with Darwen. Though Blackburn with Darwen is the PSU’s primary focus, it also provides a number of services in various locations across the Lancashire Healthcare Economy.
Around 684 staff work within the PSU in a wide variety of services. These services can be grouped into four broad areas:
-
Adults and Older Peoples Services;
-
Child and Family Health Services;
-
Sexual Health, Harm Reduction and Primary Care Mental Health Services;
-
Lancashire Condition Management Programme.
As a key provider of high quality community healthcare we are committed to developing and delivering patient focused services that meet the needs of all sections of the community.
Where appropriate to delivering high quality patient focused services, the PSU believes in close partnership working with organisations such as Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Lancashire Care Trust, East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and Job Centre Plus.
The PSU is committed to engaging with the population it serves. This engagement allows the PSU to improve and tailor its services to meet the ever changing healthcare requirements of the community. The belief is that by listening to the views of patients and carers the PSU is better able to provide services the community needs. The continual drive to improve the health and wellbeing of those who live within Blackburn with Darwen underpins everything the PSU does.
